c.) Rule of Three – The
Legislative actions came up with the Rule of Three. The definition for the Rule of Three is when
students attempt to complete a certain class for the third time or more, the
student would then have to pay an extra $60.00 for the class. The student has to be officially a student
after the 12th class day in order to count as an attempt.
d.) Jim Heath – Paul Williams
told everyone that Jim Heath apologizes to everyone for the cancellation of the
Creationism and Intelligent Design class schedule for November 11, 2005. Jim did say he would try to reschedule the
class for spring.
e.)
Mult-Media Update – The decision was made that the
projectors would be mounted in the ceiling and there will be a place in the
wall were the PTA cable can be connect.
Media will have laptops that can be checked out. For each campus there will be 7 mounted
projectors. Installation would probably
start next year. The new ACC facilities
will have mounted projectors already installed. RVS 2213 and RGC 108 will be among the first
rooms to get projectors.
f.) Conceptual Physics
Instructor Round Table –It was indicated that possibly on Saturday, December
10, 2005, that instructors would get together and share ideas and make sure
that all instructors not teaching Conceptual Physics as a simple version of
General Physics.
g.) Conceptual Physics
Pre-requisite change for Sonography – Conceptual
Physics I or II will suffice for the Pre-requisite for the Sonography
Program. However, it seems that the
majority of the increased demand is coming from education majors from
h.) Karl’s Items – Karl had sent
several things but was not here to present them.
i.) Geology Lab Tech Position -
The position has been posted externally. This position will be based at the Rio Grande
Campus. The duties will support Geology at RGC and
Environmental Science at NRG.
j.) Geology and Astronomy
transfer to St. Edwards – but only as a general science elective.
k.) Collaborative - Paul
Williams informed everyone that the kickoff has started at Round Rock and ACC’s
first seminar would be Saturday, December 3, 2006. The seminar will be titled: “Focus on
Matter.” There are ten instructors from
Round Rock ISD, ten instructors from Pflugerville and none from Austin ISD

The textbooks for our General
Physics course will probably start coming in January. In February the textbooks will be reviewed
and in March the decision will be made on which book we will be using in the
fall. We discussed how we should go
about choosing the textbooks, specifically what criteria and what weights
should be applied to each criterion.
Jeff Bechtold volunteered to compile this information and email it out
for general response.
There was no GEOL/ESTE
Subcommittee meeting.
